{"id":486,"date":"2012-06-21T19:56:38","date_gmt":"2012-06-22T00:56:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bluecandlesociety.net\/?p=486"},"modified":"2012-06-21T19:57:14","modified_gmt":"2012-06-22T00:57:14","slug":"some-quick-bonus-fiction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bluecandlesociety.net\/?p=486","title":{"rendered":"Some Quick Bonus Fiction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-487\" title=\"mouse_in_mailbox\" src=\"https:\/\/bluecandlesociety.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/mouse_in_mailbox-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bluecandlesociety.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/mouse_in_mailbox-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bluecandlesociety.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/mouse_in_mailbox.jpg 584w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><strong>Inspired by the mouse I found living in my mailbox this morning:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There once was a field mouse named Cyril, who tired of living in grubby burrows in fields, and longed for a cleaner, more modern environment.\u00a0 So he scaled a mailbox pole, and using secret methods known only to mouse-kind made his way inside the aluminum construct.\u00a0 He was still hard at work, making himself a little nest in one corner, and hanging photographs of his vacation to Six Flags Scranton, when a a squeaking from down below caught his attention.\u00a0 He looked out of his new home, to the ground so far below, and saw his friend Vernon the vole, waving his little paw in greeting.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hello, Cyril,&#8221; Vernon shouted in his squeaky little vole voice.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hello, Vernon,&#8221; Cyril called back.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So you&#8217;ve finally realized your dream of living high above the ground, eh?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yes I have,&#8221; Cyril said, a bit of pride creeping into his voice.\u00a0 &#8220;The view from here is remarkable.\u00a0 I believe I can see a cow, which must be dozens of yards away.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Oh, how I wish I could live in a mailbox,&#8221; Vernon said.\u00a0 &#8220;To think of all the mail you&#8217;ll be able to read!\u00a0 News from far-off lands!\u00a0 Thrilling tales of the lives of countless creatures!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I suppose,&#8221; Cyril replied.\u00a0 &#8220;But I think instead I&#8217;ll just chew up some of it for more nesting material, and pee on the rest.\u00a0 I do enjoy peeing on things.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Well, whatever you like, of course,&#8221;
