{"id":950,"date":"2013-10-17T18:32:04","date_gmt":"2013-10-17T23:32:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bluecandlesociety.net\/?p=950"},"modified":"2013-10-19T21:46:19","modified_gmt":"2013-10-20T02:46:19","slug":"wait-does-this-make-my-miracleman-collection-more-or-less-valuable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bluecandlesociety.net\/?p=950","title":{"rendered":"Wait, Does This Make My Miracleman Collection More or Less Valuable?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-953\" alt=\"miracleman\" src=\"https:\/\/bluecandlesociety.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/miracleman-194x300.jpg\" width=\"194\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bluecandlesociety.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/miracleman-194x300.jpg 194w, https:\/\/bluecandlesociety.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/miracleman.jpg 224w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 194px) 100vw, 194px\" \/>Collecting issues of <em>Miracleman<\/em> was one of the smart things I did in the late 80&#8217;s\/early 90&#8217;s (I think there were like two other smart things I did then, though I&#8217;m having difficulty calling them to mind) &#8211; it stands in stark contrast to, for example, collecting issues of <em>Secret Wars II<\/em> (I mean, what&#8230;<em>why<\/em>?)<\/p>\n<p>But I digress &#8211; ya&#8217;ll didn&#8217;t come here to hear about my comic book collection and how much money I could make selling it off (about 6 bucks for Miracleman #1 and about $3.80 for Secret Wars II #1, for some reason).\u00a0\u00a0 The reason I go into all this is to lead into the fact that the great <a href=\"http:\/\/marvel.com\/news\/story\/21334\/nycc_2013_miracleman#ixzz2hiqPzaL2\">Neil Gaiman will finally be wrapping up the Miracleman story he started back in issue 23<\/a>, after Marvel re-releases the original run starting this January (good luck getting six smackers for one of those reprints, suckers!)<\/p>\n<p>A chance for a wider audience for something arguably better than <em>Watchmen<\/em> is, of course, great news, and it is only made better by a press release from Marvel that goes through heroic gymnastics to avoid mentioning that, like <em>Watchmen<\/em>, <em>Miracleman<\/em> was (up to issue 16* anyway), written by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alan_Moore\">Alan Moore<\/a>.\u00a0 It is comforting to know that Alan Moore is as beloved by comics executives as ever.<\/p>\n<p>* Correction: I originally said issue 23, because I hadn&#8217;t bothered to haul out my &#8220;M&#8221; shortbox<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Collecting issues of Miracleman was one of the smart things I did in the late 80&#8217;s\/early 90&#8217;s (I think there were like two other smart things I did then, though I&#8217;m having difficulty calling them to mind) &#8211; it stands in stark contrast to, for example, collecting issues of Secret Wars II (I mean, what&#8230;why?)
